FORISK group

FORecasting epidemic rISK

General objectives

FORISK focuses on predicting epidemic risks for epidemiological surveillance.

Team missions

  • Determine the effects of factors at plot or landscape level, that affect spatio-temporal dynamics of diseases, vectors or insect pests of perennial plants.
  • Predict epidemic risks, in terms of probability and impact on yield, in a context of climate change through modeling by integrating different sources of information (experimental data, from text mining or in situ prospecting, environmental data bases and others).
  • Contribute to the international health monitoring in plant health by participating in national and international networks (i.e. French epidemiosurveillance platform (ESV)) and by our scientific and technical expertise on our biological models (i.e. Citrus greening, Fusarium head blight of banana).
  • Work for North-South exchanges on our themes (for example by training students and researchers from the South).

Research topic/discipline: Biology and Population, dynamics, biomathematics, entomology, plant pathology.

Study scale

The spatial scales addressed range from tree to landscape.

Study pathosystems

Banana, cocoa, citrus, coffee, prunus/psyllid phytoplasma.

Intervention region

The FORISK team operates in different regions of the world: Europe, East and West Africa, overseas departments.
